Band Name: Dr. Ex and The Break Ups

What the band says they sound like: “Dr Ex and The Break- Ups answer the question, ‘What if the Scooby Doo gang was super into garage punk and beatup Question Mark and The Mysterians and stole their instruments?’ ” (Patrick Marton)
What we say they sound like: I like the dark mood and tones of the organ in this, it really does make the song stand apart from just being something punky or garage rock sounding. It definitely sets the scene and I imagine a band like this that is part B-52's and part 60's throwback is very fun in a live setting. For anyone who is a sucker for vintage tones and an organ led band, you will dig this.

Band Name: Cosmokaze

What the band says they sound like: Cosmokaze is an instrumental trio made up of Rik Mercaldi, Josh Enslen & Todd Giudice. All the music you hear in these recordings is fully improvised and performed live in the studio.
What we say they sound like: This is interesting for an instrumental group because it jumps around from ambient Explosions In The Sky type stuff to more straight forward rock songs. I think though just throwing the ambient title on this doesn't quite work because they are fully structured fleshed out songs even though the band improvised them in the studio. The spacier more sparse songs are the ones I enjoyed the best but I'd be very interested to hear songs the band actually works on for an extended period if this is just spur of the moment improvisations.

Band Name: Easy Dreams

What the band says they sound like: On the song Easy Dreams says, "'All in Blue' started as a quiet little nighttime song, and through us bringing it to the band, it transformed itself into a rollercoaster to outer space. We hope people enjoy the ride."
What we say they sound like: This song clocks in at over 6 minutes and starts with a very fun Indie Pop vibe but ends up in proggy classic rock territory. The signature sound of the band is the round keyboard tone that permeates throughout. The dual vocal and harmonies are also very classic 60's and 70's type melodies kind of reminiscent of bands like Pentangle. I have to say overall this has a very interesting vibe that really sets it apart from contemporary music. The other track 25 Moons is a little more straight forward but still has this odd timeless feel to it.

Band Name: Jagwar Twin

What the band says they sound like: Big Loud Rock and Jagwar Twin — the near-supernatural alter-ego of singer, songwriter, producer and storyteller Roy English — are excited to present his brand new single titled “Great Time To Be Human,” a track that follows the release of The Circle: The Great Jagwar Myth EP remix collection and 33, English’s latest full-length album produced by long-time collaborator, the GRAMMY-nominated Matthew Pauling (Twenty One Pilots, 5 Seconds of Summer). “It’s an observation of the human experience,” English says of the new single. “It can be pretty strange, but something about it is so beautiful.”
What we say they sound like: Ok, so normally things that skate the line of mainstream pop are not covered here, however a good melody is a good melody. Songwriting and production wise I'm kind of a sucker for whistling and the deep Tom drum hits that have almost a sub sonic ring to them. The chorus sticks in your head and if you like stuff like Jamiroquai or Maroon 5 you will dig this.

Band Name: Future Someone

What the band says they sound like: "Never Find Another You" is the dopamine daydream. It’s the intoxicating hit during the honeymoon phase of getting to know someone and wanting to contain that feeling as well as sustain it. Containing it is impossible and sustaining it is a lottery ticket. This song was not born from personal experience, but rather, wondering what it would be like if I had that - the dream girl in the daydream.
What we say they sound like: Indie Pop that is a little bit Phoenix and M83 among others with more subdued R&B instrument tones. A very pleasant set of singles available so far, that set a chill vibe. If this is any indicator of the full album you are going to be hearing a lot about Future Someone. On tracks like “I Hope You Find Whatever You Are Looking For” the trip hop drums carry the song to another level as buzzy synth and layers of ethereal vocal harmonies put this artist high on my list as someone to watch. Perfect name for a band that will be a name to watch.

Band Name: The Bellwether Syndicate

What the band says they sound like: "Golden Age' is a rare gift in that I received nearly the entire song in a dream… The beat, the guitar and bass melody, and the chorus lyric were all just there in my head when I woke up and, without saying a word to Sarah, I ran down to the studio to capture it before I lost it," explains William Faith.
What we say they sound like: Bass drives the track as light delay effected guitar sits on top of indie pop shoegaze in the verse. The vocal is low and in an Ian Curtis range with haunting atmospheric synths filling up the sparse spaces before the song breaks into more of a traditional rock song in line with something The Killers might write. Overall a tight engaging single that will certainly make fans upon first listen.
