WHAT'S BEEN IN OUR INBOX! TRITON., DIVIDED HEAVEN, BOTHERS, RIP ROOM, OTHER BROTHER DARRYL, ROYAL BLUSH

Our inbox is over flowing again so we are letting you good people know exactly what is new and available out there in the music world.  Just being transparent, we have a good 4 to 5 people doing reviews now on these "Inbox" articles so something that appeals to one writer may not appeal to the next and that's ok. So please don't take our word as gospel it's all subjective. This week is pretty interesting mix so hopefully you dig what we picked out for you! If you want to see your band on one of these lists, send us streaming music and as short bio.

BAND: triton.

BloodMakesNoise Rating: 9.2/10

Genre: Indie Pop

What the band says they sound like: Scott says, “In 2020, amidst all the isolation and anxiety, I dusted off an album I had started a couple years earlier, but had not finished.” He adds, “I had hit a number of roadblocks that had discouraged me, and had continually lost my momentum. I channeled all my energy into this album; I lived it, I breathed it, I slept it, I dreamt it. I found a lot of help along the way, and with every exchange and contribution I re-energized to dig deeper and keep grinding. From Geoff Rickly who adopted my project and guided me along the way, my beautiful friends/family and everyone in between, and AJ Perdomo, Aaron Gillespie, Tim Payne, Jarrod Alexander, Jesse Cannon.

What we think they sound like: I really dig this and it's surprising because most of the people involved are in screamy or heavy bands that I'm not a big fan of. This track is somewhere between bedroom indie pop and am gold hits. It's really great that Scott's Hawaiian upbringing shines through in the music, this is totally relaxing at sunset sipping on a cocktail type vibe. It's pretty interesting that the members of Thursday are involved in the production and some of the playing among other punky musicians from bands like Alkaline Trio & The Almost, because you can't really get further from their sound than on this track. I'm digging it, will check out the album for sure!

BAND:  DIVIDED HEAVEN

BloodMakesNoise Rating:  0.2/10

Genre: Shitty Rock

What the band says they sound like:   For the past 12 years the DIVIDED HEAVEN frontman has tried relentlessly to buck the typical singer-songwriter mold with his unique writing style and career path.

What we think they sound like:  This is embarrassing and terrible. Not only would this be fucking awful if it was original but they chose to make a beloved song in this shitty LA glam rock hair metal style. This artist actually plays festivals and places like SXSW? That should amazing inspiration to all the young people trying to make it, you apparently don't have to have much talent to be out there doing stuff in cool places. Bad idea, bad performance, bad all around. How do you take something so awesome that is all violins and possibly the darkest Beatles song and make it into such laughable terrible shit? I'm waiting for the answer? Like who at this record label or in this band was like sure lets just throw this out there and see if we can find people with awful taste who dig it...

BAND:  BOTHERS

BloodMakesNoise Rating:  8.9/10

Genre: Post Punk, Post Hardcore

What the band says they sound like:  “When you decide it’s finally time to strip naked, scarf a fistful of peyote buttons, and drive an ’82 Cadillac Cutlass deep into the desert in the middle of a lightning storm, BOTHERS second LP should probably be blaring on your tape deck while you daydream about communing with the coyotes or some shit. Two tracks in, you can almost smell the ozone as the horizon explodes. Inherently primal, their second offering is nothing short of bespoke savagery - deeper, uglier, and stranger than their first outing. Imagine HUSKER DU finally found something to be genuinely angry about, or if you ran the first couple TELEVISION records through a boardwalk funhouse meat grinder. If you’ve never punched yourself in the throat hard enough to make the room spin like your future swirling down the shitter, this record will make you realize it’s time”.

What we think they sound like:  This track is vivacious and seething with brutal energy. This is one of those bands that understands why people listen to punk rock and hardcore. This has intense energy from the first second to the last second and makes you want to fuck someone up in the pit. It's nice to hear something that sounds classic and new at the same time. It sheds a lot of the bells and whistles of modern music and just sounds like a group of dudes making fast, loud abrasive fun music. Turn it loud and listen up!

BAND:  RIP ROOM

BloodMakesNoise Rating:  9.1/10

Genre: Post Punk, Rock N Roll, Garage Rock

What the band says they sound like:  “I wanted to be in a fun, high-energy band, but with a math-y, prog edge,” says Reed. “We’re always looking to capture our live sound, and with this record, we wanted that plus a little more to emphasize some ideas or sonic feelings,” adds bassist/vocalist Sarah McKinney. “The subject matter is pretty heavy, but the execution is sometimes a bit more lighthearted and dance-y which I think balances it out well. Our sound was once described as ‘dance music for people who don’t like to dance,’ which I don’t agree with — I’d say it’s ‘dance music for people who like to dance but are also bummed out’.”

What we think they sound like:  This has lots of elements of everything I like from Bikini Kill and Sleater Kinney, 7 Year Bitch to AC/DC and The White Stripes. It's such a great mix of just good old Rock N' Roll, the main riff almost has a T. Rex feel with vocals that are kind of like Thurston Moore, more talky than sung. I'm digging it and could definitely get into a full record of this vibe. It just has such a bad ass quality to it. It's like Joan Jett but heavier and darker. The prog bits are a nice touch that takes it to another level.

BAND:  OTHER BROTHER DARRYL

BloodMakesNoise Rating:  9.5/10

Genre: Country, Indie Folk

What the band says they sound like:  It's a bittersweet moment for Other Brother Darryl, as they unveil "Until I Do" a few short months after the unexpected passing of co-founding member Dave Mirabella (The Rationales). Here on record and on stage, they raise a glass to Mirabella, and navigate being in a band together without one of their dear friends.

What we think they sound like:  This has a really nice Wilco meets country type vibe. Really sad hearing about the passing of one of the band members because just on this demo you can hear such a genuine, heartfelt musical collaboration coming at you through your speakers. The overall recording is so honest and without big production, it just feels like you are sitting in the room with the band performing. Really nice stuff.

BAND:  ROYAL BLUSH

BloodMakesNoise Rating:  8.9/10

Genre: Indie Pop, Indie Rock

What the band says they sound like:  With lyrics shedding a darker tone, “Witness” is a demand for accountability. A voice enraged and pushed to the point where blood is on the tongue. In the studio we asked ourselves, ‘what would happen if you turned the amp up as loud as it could go? Crack the snare as hard as you could.’ This is our response. We reject the silence. Even when the bass leaves your chest, we’re still screaming “CAN I GET A WITNESS”

What we think they sound like:  These guys have this great Indie Rock vibe but it totally sounds like it's roots are in the 90's with bands like Garbage and Republica. It's got a good dance groove to it kind of in a similar way to how Soccer Mommy's stuff always has a great groove to it. The band is a staple of the Jersey City scene and it's easy to see why. Looking forward to hearing the full release.
