The Taxpayers are back with a brand new album called Circle Breaker, out now on Ernest Jenning Record Co. Known for their unique mix of punk, folk, and experimental sounds, the band continues to push boundaries with this release. It’s their first full-length album since Big Delusion Factory in 2016, and fans have been eagerly waiting.
The album features several tracks that have already gotten attention, including “I Am One Thousand,” “At War With the Dogcatchers,” “Circle Protector,” and “Evil Everywhere.” These songs show off the band’s wide range—some are loud and fast, while others are slow and emotional.
To go along with the album, The Taxpayers also released a music video for “Outline of Your Blood.” This video is special because it includes footage from fans, showing moments with their families, pets, and even farm animals. Singer Rob Taxpayer says the song is for the people we love, and the video highlights that feeling in a personal way.
Formed in Portland, Oregon in 2007, The Taxpayers are known for mixing punk energy with unusual instruments and styles. After a few years away, they’ve returned with a sound that’s even more thoughtful and bold. Circle Breaker talks about real experiences—loss, birth, love, and change. Rob Taxpayer shared that while they were writing the album, the band dealt with both heartbreaking loss and the joy of new life.
The album artwork—a tree stump with new growth—was made by band members and artist Shauna Corinne Murray. It represents the idea of something new coming from something old, which matches the themes of the music.
The Taxpayers will tour the East Coast this summer with Pigeon Pit, and fans in cities like Minneapolis, Chicago, and Detroit can catch them live this month. Circle Breaker is raw, brave, and full of feeling. The Taxpayers show that punk music can still grow, change, and tell important stories. Their return is a powerful reminder of what this genre can be.
