San Francisco's The Okmoniks are ready to electrify fans with their new LP, Afterparty Fever!!!!, which will be released on September 2nd through Slovenly Recordings, with vinyl hitting stores on September 27th. Known for their high-energy garage rock and punk sound. Formed in Tucson in 2000 and now based in the Bay Area, they bring a raw and infectious energy to their music that has earned them a reputation for exciting live shows.
The Okmoniks' new album features a mix of original tracks and self-recorded songs, showing off their DIY spirit and strong songwriting skills. Sammy, the guitarist, says, “We love 60s and 70s west coast punk and garage rock. We’re keeping that rock n’ roll spirit alive, just like Crime did in San Francisco.” The album includes a special cover of “Cry A Little Longer” by The Grodes, a 60s punk band from Tucson.
Helene, known for her impressive organ riffs, plays a vintage 1960s Ace Tone Top 5 organ that adds a classic sound to their music. She mentions that the band prefers old, authentic keyboards over modern simulators. The Okmoniks are proud of their unique sound and the way they keep their music true to their influences.
Their energetic style has taken them to famous festivals like Mosswood Meltdown and Gonerfest, as well as unique venues such as boats in Sweden among others. With Afterparty Fever!!!!, The Okmoniks are offering fans a double dose of their music, as the album features the same 9 songs on both sides of the LP. “It’s like getting two records for the price of one,” says Helene.
