The Family Men Push Noise Rock Further Into the Red on Co/de/termination

Swedish experimental rock group The Family Men return with a harsher, tighter, and more confrontational sound on their newly released second album, Co/de/termination.

Swedish experimental rock band The Family Men have released their second full-length album Co/de/termination through Welfare Sounds & Records, expanding on the abrasive and chaotic sound that has made the group one of the underground scene’s most intense live acts.

Released earlier this month, the album follows the band’s debut No Sound Forever and arrives after several years of touring across Sweden and Europe. That constant momentum can be felt throughout Co/de/termination, which sharpens the band’s mix of noise rock, industrial textures, distorted electronics, and hypnotic repetition into something heavier and more focused.

Rather than relying on pure volume alone, the album balances chaos with precision. Tape loops, damaged electronics, samplers, and walls of guitar feedback collide across the record, but every shift feels deliberate. The result is a tense and immersive listening experience that constantly moves between collapse and control.

The Family Men have become known for refusing easy genre labels. Their music pulls from industrial rock, noise, post-hardcore, and experimental punk while maintaining a raw and confrontational identity. Across Co/de/termination, the band lean even further into that intensity without losing clarity or purpose.

The group’s reputation has also grown through their immersive live performances. Originally building their audience in Gothenburg’s underground music scene, The Family Men have developed shows filled with VHS projections, blinding feedback, and aggressive stage energy. Vocalist and guitarist Gustav Danielsbacka frequently performs directly inside the crowd, breaking down the distance between audience and performer.

With Co/de/termination, the band continue pushing their sound into harsher and more unpredictable territory while keeping a strong sense of structure beneath the noise.

The Family Men are currently supporting the album with a European tour that includes stops in Paris, Rotterdam, Brussels, Gothenburg, and appearances at Fusion Festival and Resurrection Fest later this summer.
