Olympia, WA’s country-punk six-piece, Pigeon Pit, has released their latest single, "Bronco," ahead of their forthcoming album Crazy Arms, out January 17 via Ernest Jenning Record Co. Known for their raw melodies and deeply emotional storytelling, the band continues to blend punk urgency with the twang of country in their newest work.
Frontwoman Lomes Oleander describes "Bronco" as a song about embracing the chaos within. “It’s about being dragged by the parts of ourselves we can’t control,” she explains. This introspective exploration of identity is a theme woven throughout Crazy Arms, which Oleander calls “a bunch of love songs for how messed up we are and how beautiful it is that we keep trying.”
The new single follows "Keys to the City," the album’s first release, which Oleander says captures the gritty energy of late-night adventures. Both tracks highlight the band’s ability to balance vivid lyricism with dynamic instrumentation, creating an emotionally charged listening experience.
Crazy Arms is the band’s first release as a nationally touring ensemble, showcasing their evolution since Feather River Canyon Blues in 2022. Recorded analog on ½” tape in a friend’s basement, the album is an experiment in limitations and creativity. The stripped-down process forced the band to embrace imperfections, giving the record a lived-in authenticity. “It’s more country, more pop-punk, and more experimental than the last one,” Oleander says, describing the project as a reflection of the band’s collective energy.
Pigeon Pit has been busy since their last album, playing Tiny Desk, touring internationally, and sharing stages with Laura Jane Grace. The band’s journey has fueled their music, with Crazy Arms offering a heartfelt response to the struggles and beauty of human existence.
