Boston Americana collective Other Brother Darryl have released their second album, Hey Yeah Hey, an 11-track collection centered on harmony, connection, and thoughtful songwriting.
Boston Americana band Other Brother Darryl have released their sophomore album, Hey Yeah Hey. Arriving one year after their debut album Roll Shine Roll, the new record continues to build on the group's harmony-driven sound while introducing new influences from classic rock, psychedelic music, and jangle-pop.
The album features 11 tracks, including the previously released singles “Peaceful Alibi,” “Take It With You,” and “Too Right.” Together, the songs explore themes of friendship, personal growth, and human connection while blending warm melodies with rich vocal harmonies.
Other Brother Darryl says this album reflects the band's growth since forming. Unlike their debut, which came together while the group was still finding its identity, Hey Yeah Hey was created with each member contributing from an established role. That shared experience helped shape a more focused and unified sound throughout the record.
“Too Right” stands out as an upbeat reflection on today's fast-moving digital world. While its lyrics respond to the constant stream of opinions found online, the song pairs that message with an uplifting Americana sound built around harmonies and memorable melodies. Elsewhere, songs such as “Take It With You” and “Peaceful Alibi” focus on learning from life's experiences and finding strength through difficult moments.
The album was written by the band and produced by vocalist Dan Nicklin at Henley Row Studios in Stoneham, Massachusetts. Additional recording took place at Q Division Studios, while Brian Charles handled mastering. The result is a polished collection that balances thoughtful songwriting with organic performances.
Other Brother Darryl features Dan Nicklin, Nate Leavitt, Dan Cederholm, Derek Feeney, Chad Raleigh, Jim Collins, Dave Lieb, and Matt Odabashian. The band also continues to honor late co-founder Dave Mirabella, whose influence remains an important part of the group's identity.
With Hey Yeah Hey, Other Brother Darryl continue to expand their Americana sound while staying rooted in heartfelt storytelling and strong vocal harmonies. The new album highlights the chemistry that has developed within the band and offers a collection of songs that celebrates community, resilience, and the value of genuine human connection.
