The New York pop-rock band gives the classic song an orchestral, jazz-inflected overhaul with a guest appearance from the celebrated Ozzy Osbourne and Badlands guitarist.
New York pop-rock band My Mom Is Here has released a sweeping reinterpretation of “Can’t Find My Way Home,” enlisting legendary guitarist Jake E. Lee for a version that stretches the classic into bold new territory.
Recorded live at BerkleeNYC’s Power Station, the track trades straightforward revivalism for an expansive arrangement built around brass, strings and jazz-inspired orchestration. Producer, arranger and conductor Terence “T” Odonkor helps reshape the familiar song while vocalist Samantha Seiff anchors it in the emotional connection she has carried with classic rock since childhood.
That connection runs particularly deep for Seiff, whose father introduced her to the music at an early age. With My Mom Is Here, she has sought to honor those formative influences without simply reproducing them, filtering older sounds through the identity of the band as it exists today.
Jake E. Lee adds another bridge between generations. Best known for his work with Ozzy Osbourne and Badlands, Lee brings his heavy, blues-rooted guitar style to the recording, adding another distinct voice to an arrangement already designed to push beyond the contours of the original.
The cover completes a three-song recording capsule that also includes My Mom Is Here’s original single “The Lucky Dudes.” Across the sessions, the group expanded its usual pop-rock framework with more ambitious instrumentation while preserving the interplay of a live band.
Formed in 2023 by Seiff and Nick Sare after meeting in a jazz a cappella group at Columbia University, My Mom Is Here has since developed a reputation around energetic performances and musicianship that balances precision with personality. The band released its debut EP, Baby Steps, in 2025 and followed it with its first U.S. tour.
With “Can’t Find My Way Home,” that story folds backward and forward at once, turning a childhood favorite into something unmistakably rooted in the band’s present.
