MOTEL BLACK: MORNING HUM SINGLE

Dark and somber are my first thoughts as the kick drum and minor clean electric guitar chords are finger picked. The vocal is unassuming and gives the overall track a very indie rock tone with a little southern twang. As other instrumentation slowly creeps in the musical composition is akin to something Radiohead might have written in the mid 90’s. As the song hits the midway point a power chord riff brings us into part 2, which has a completely different feel. It’s kind of like the musical bridge between two different songs. However, the repeated “Why you always gotta hold me ransom” does make part 2 of the song feel more like an elongated ending instead of a new musical idea. Although 6 minutes is quite long for a single, this track has a great build throughout.
