Hong Kong shoegaze band Lucid Express will release their second album, Instant Comfort, on February 20 through Kanine Records. The band shared the lead single “Something Blue,” giving fans the first look at what the record will sound like. The track comes with a new video made from footage sent in by fans and friends from around the world.
“Something Blue” shows the group’s wide soundscapes and steady mood. Singer Kim Ho explores feelings of slow sadness that come from uncertain relationships. The music builds with airy tones, swirling feedback, and jangling guitars. It is a soft but detailed track that hints at the rest of the album.
Instant Comfort was mixed by Kurt Feldman, known for his work with The Pains of Being Pure at Heart and Depreciation Guild. Feldman and the band worked across time zones, holding long overnight sessions on Discord. The album captures the quiet feeling of nighttime, with layered parts that feel rich and full. The nine songs are more complex than their earlier work, but they still keep a clear structure.
This new record follows the group’s 2021 self-titled debut and the 2022 reissue of their Floret EP. Since their debut, Lucid Express has earned praise from fans and critics. They have toured in several countries and played festivals like Slide Away and LEVITATION. Their rise has helped them reach a wider audience outside of Hong Kong.
Lucid Express will visit North America again in 2026 for a series of shows. One planned stop is New York City’s New Colossus Festival in March.
