New York–based singer-songwriter Lauren Minear has unveiled Boxing Day (Deluxe), an expanded version of her 2025 album that continues the project’s exploration of personal growth, vulnerability, and emotional clarity. Alongside the deluxe edition comes the sharp new single “Anxiety,” a reflective track that reframes the complicated role anxiety can play in protecting personal boundaries.
The expanded album documents a transformative period for Minear, capturing two years of artistic and emotional self-discovery. Written between New York and London throughout 2023, the project began to take fuller shape during a creative retreat in Woodstock, New York in early 2024. Recording sessions followed in both producer Dan Weeks’ London studio and Minear’s home studio in Westchester, resulting in a cinematic, introspective body of work that balances vulnerability with newfound confidence.
At the center of the deluxe release is “Anxiety,” a candid reflection on instinct, self-trust, and the moment when uncertainty gives way to clarity. The song emerged after Minear removed herself from a difficult professional relationship with a creative agency that had been exploiting her work. In retrospect, the unease she felt during that time became a signal rather than a weakness, shaping the emotional foundation of the track.
The song’s hook arrived unexpectedly during a trip to Leeds, England before being brought into a writing session in London with Weeks, where the track evolved into its final form. A subtle production detail gives the song its emotional texture: a piano line that weaves between sections of the arrangement, mirroring the unsettled but persistent rhythm of anxious thought.
Across Boxing Day (Deluxe), Minear continues to build on the themes that defined the original album, examining identity, relationships, and the emotional complexities of womanhood. Her songwriting leans heavily into honesty and introspection, creating space for listeners to confront their own experiences alongside hers.
