Back again amid the continuing pandemic, reviewing great music from around the globe. I have really relished writing for “Blood Makes Noise” the past year. As a person who has still, even after 6 years of retirement from the game of basketball, lived in Europe collectively longer than I have in America as an adult.
But I digress...
Putting that well-travelled life I led pre pandemic to good use, I was recent sent probably one of the most creative and powerful sounding bands I have had the pleasure of hearing from easily one of the most eclectic parts of the world.
I am speaking of ASIA, specifically Japan.
I heard just about every genre while frequently living In the land of the rising sun. From hip hip to house to Country to all forms of rock, they have a passion and devotion that would easily rival any parts of this country and the talent to boot.
BLOOD PICK ME is no exception as their self-produced single “INSIDE OUT” is honestly a master class in how to self-produce independently and get studio output. A mix of shoe gaze and industrial rock that reminds me of one of my favorites lesser known but musically popular, Fleeting Joys (Look them up, you won’t be disappointed) and well known band, Primal Scream.
They seemingly have perfected the twin vocals which make you want to power up like some sort of superhero or run through a brick wall with a hundred or so of your friends at a concert. That purposed passion is clearly fueling the songwriting, instrumentation and their overarching often stadium level voices. I almost NEED TO SEE THEM LIVE. I feel like their stage plots and performance would be too big for a small venue.
