When I was in High School the popular boys were out dating cheerleaders, the Dungeons & Dragons geeks were busy saving the world from dragons in their mom's basement, rolling dice like champions, which brings us to this band made up of music veterans!
A new music group called Fight Dice has announced their debut album, "Total Party Kill." This band is inspired by Dungeons & Dragons and features members from popular indie bands like Braid, Hey Mercedes, The Promise Ring, and Maritime. Their first single, "Magic Pact," is now available on YouTube and Bandcamp. The album will be released by Forge Again Records on Friday, September 20.
Fight Dice started during the pandemic when bassist Todd Bell and his friends were playing Dungeons & Dragons online to stay connected. As they began to see each other more in person, they decided to form a band. "We started practicing and having fun with our new project," Todd Bell said. "With loads of D&D-inspired content for band direction and lyrics, we booked a show, settled on a name, and Fight Dice was officially born."
Their debut album, "Total Party Kill," is a mix of heavy punk and stoner-rock music with a love for D&D. The band members include Jay Gilkay from Evel, Todd Bell from Braid and Hey Mercedes, Dan Didier from The Promise Ring and Maritime, Brett Schwandt from Evel and Ceilishrine, and Eric Arsnow from Tigernite and Devils Teeth. They have created a 26-minute album that captures the energy of mythical battles and heroic adventures.
The first single, "Magic Pact," is described as a guide on using magical weapons. The song is streaming now, and fans can listen to it on YouTube and Bandcamp. The album's title, "Total Party Kill," refers to the complete defeat of a questing group in Dungeons & Dragons. Fight Dice's music is a thrilling blend of heavy punk and stoner rock, capturing the essence of Dungeons & Dragons adventures. The blend of nerd culture and stoner rock music brings a wave of nostalgia. It's exciting to see this fusion thrive, highlighting the creativity and passion that defines both communities.
.Fight Dice will also be making appearances in the Milwaukee, WI area in September and October to promote their new album. Fans can look forward to more show dates being announced soon.
