Empires in Orbit Bend Genres on New Album Audiodrome

Industrial rock duo Empires in Orbit tear through industrial, pop, hip-hop, ambient and metal territory on their new album Audiodrome, featuring the bilingual single “Cat Eyes.”

Empires in Orbit have released their new album Audiodrome, a genre-hopping collision of industrial rock and electronic experimentation from multi-instrumentalist Gary Mann and vocalist Fe Malefiz.

The record marks a new chapter for the project, which Mann originally launched in 2015. After years of collaborations, Malefiz joined Empires in Orbit as a permanent member in 2026, bringing more than 15 years of experience as a vocalist and voice-over artist to the duo’s increasingly expansive sound.

Among the album’s highlights is “Cat Eyes,” a bilingual German-English single that folds elements of rap, pop and trap into the darker electronic world surrounding Audiodrome. Mann initially approached the track as an experiment in writing horror-influenced trap music, while Malefiz developed its manic, theatrical vocal character with Harley Quinn in mind.

The result is one of the record’s most playful and immediate moments, accompanied by a cinematic music video that amplifies the song’s twisted comic-book energy. “Cat Eyes” follows “Mother!,” another Audiodrome track that showcases the darker and more emotionally charged end of the duo’s spectrum.

That contrast is central to Audiodrome. Across 11 tracks, Empires in Orbit move through indie pop, industrial music, hip-hop, ambient textures and even black metal rather than settling into a single stylistic lane. The album also features guest appearances from Billy Price on “Smoke Screen” and Allie French on “What’s Yet to Come.”

With six previous albums and more than three million plays behind the project, Empires in Orbit have spent over a decade treating genre boundaries as suggestions rather than rules. Audiodrome pushes that philosophy further, introducing the Mann-Malefiz incarnation of the group with an intentionally unpredictable record built around contrast.
