Blending the textured guitars of 1990s indie rock with modern alt-pop production, “BAD BRAIN” explores the pressure of expectations, self-doubt, and the uncertainty that comes with finding your own path. The song captures the tension between outside influences and personal ambition while embracing the imperfections that shape growth.
“BAD BRAIN” arrives as Dolly Ave prepares to release a new album later this year. The track follows a series of career milestones that have helped establish her as one of the most exciting emerging voices in alternative music.
A Vietnamese-American artist based in Los Angeles, Dolly Ave has earned support from major radio stations including Chicago's 103.5 KISS FM, Seattle tastemaker KEXP, and Los Angeles' ALT 98.7. Her music has also been featured across editorial playlists on Spotify, YouTube, Vevo, and Amazon Music.
In recent years, she has performed at major music festivals, received coverage from leading music and culture publications, and was selected for the Recording Academy's NEXT Class in 2024. Last week, Dolly Ave performed at Anime Expo in Los Angeles ahead of her upcoming run of live dates. Her “DON'T WANNA TURN BACK” tour begins tomorrow, July 8 in Santa Ana, California, before making stops in San Diego, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Cambridge, New York City, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C.
