From the first chord of this song I keep thinking I know this song and it’s driving me crazy that I can’t put my finger on exactly why this melody is so familiar. Dany Laj & The Looks present a folky mix of Celtic and country flavors with plenty of throwback 60’s pop. The vocal, although a little nasal, blends perfectly with the female vocal. In the guitar lead around the 1:40 mark I hear a hint of Pixies. So it’s easy to tell in order to write a song that is simple and concise like this that a profound knowledge of music and songwriting needs to be the foundation. The track sounds like something Christopher Guest would write if he did a sequel to “A Mighty Wind”. Looking forward to hearing what the band is cooking up with their upcoming LP “Ten Easy Pieces” due out this June.
