Seattle indie duo Cumulus has announced their fourth album, We’ve Got It All, set for release on April 18 via Share It Music. The project, led by Alexandra Lockhart and William Cremin, has evolved over the years, earning recognition from outlets like NPR Music, Stereogum, and KEXP. What began as Lockhart’s solo endeavor has grown into a true collaboration, with Cremin co-writing and co-producing the new record.
The first single, “Simple,” reflects on childhood memories of a time that felt less complicated. Over layered harmonies and warm instrumentation, Lockhart and Cremin ask, “Will it ever be that simple again?” The song captures a nostalgic longing for the past while embracing the uncertainty of the present. “I was thinking about all the adventures I used to get up to in my cul-de-sac neighborhood as a latch-key kid,” says Lockhart. “It feels so pure to look back on now, and I wonder if my future children will ever feel that sense of safety.”
We’ve Got It All was shaped by reflective moments—long drives, voice memos, and quiet songwriting sessions in a Seattle basement. The album explores themes of childhood friendships, family bonds, and finding meaning in everyday life. The track “Boxes and Letters” serves as the album’s centerpiece, with the lyric “For a minute we’re pretending—we’ve got it all—figured out” capturing the record’s central idea: embracing imperfection and growth.
To bring these songs to life, Lockhart and Cremin enlisted Bellingham musician Aaron Guest on piano, adding depth to the album’s arrangements. They also brought in bassist John Van Deusen (Lonely Forest) and drummer Aaron Ball (Dryland). Recorded mostly live at The Unknown in Anacortes, Washington, the sessions focused on full vocal takes and capturing the energy of musicians playing together in real time.
Cumulus’ blend of indie rock and folk-inspired songwriting feels deeply personal yet universally relatable. We’ve Got It All carries a sense of warmth and resilience, making space for vulnerability while celebrating the small moments that make life meaningful. The album’s release also supports MusiCares, reinforcing the band’s commitment to community and the well-being of fellow artists.
