The Scottish band Cold Years blend poppy rock with a slight punk edge to create quite a nice pop punk gem. I wouldn’t call this punk even though they list Green Day and Gaslight Anthem as influences on this track. I would say Gaslight Anthems sound is much closer to what they are. However, I think they write better melodies and have the catchiness of something like Mike Ness and Social Distortion. The video does a great job of blending live photos with a photo collage style. Kudos to the director for putting something together this sharp and stylized from what seems to be limited footage. This track is a perfect length for this kind of single, it makes you want to restart it as soon as it ends. Can’t ask for any more from a single.
