Chronic Fatigue to Release New EP Surrender to Serenity

Vancouver-based punk rockers Chronic Fatigue are gearing up to release their self-produced second EP, Surrender to Serenity, this past November. Known for their energetic live shows and fearless experimentation, the band blends their punk roots with elements of post-punk, metal, and experimental hip-hop on this four-track release. The result is a vibrant and powerful collection that highlights their evolution as a band.

The EP represents a shift in Chronic Fatigue’s approach, with a more collaborative writing process and a greater focus on vocalist Sam Patterson’s love for experimental hip-hop. Drawing inspiration from artists like JPEGMAFIA, Danny Brown, and Death Grips, Patterson’s vocal delivery adds a fresh layer of complexity to the band’s already dynamic sound. The tracks balance intense punk grooves with introspective and sometimes humorous lyrics, creating an experience that is as fun as it is thought-provoking.

For Chronic Fatigue—comprised of Patterson, guitarist Sean Wilson, bassist Dylan Bondy, and drummer Quinn Letendre—the energy of their live shows is a defining part of their identity. Their reputation as one of Vancouver’s most exciting live acts continues to grow, and they worked hard to translate that same energy into Surrender to Serenity. According to Letendre, the goal was to capture the raw intensity of their performances while pushing their songwriting to new heights.

Skate culture also played a major role in shaping the EP, influencing not just the music but the visuals as well. The band’s music video for the key track “Serenity” serves as a tribute to classic skate videos like Baker 3 and Yeah Right! Featuring local skaters and filmed with a nostalgic camcorder aesthetic, the video captures the playful, tight-knit community spirit that skateboarding and punk rock share.

On Surrender to Serenity, Chronic Fatigue showcases their ability to grow creatively while staying true to their roots. This release is sure to solidify their place as a rising force in punk and alternative music. Fans can expect a bold and immersive listen when the EP drops. With its bold fusion of punk, hip-hop, and skate culture vibes, Surrender to Serenity promises to be an electrifying step forward for Chronic Fatigue.
