Charming Arson Return With New Single “The Wednesday of my discontent”

Boston rock band Charming Arson have released “The Wednesday of my discontent,” the first single from their upcoming six-song record due later this year.

Boston alternative rock band Charming Arson have released their latest single, “The Wednesday of my discontent,” marking the group's first new music since their 2024 EP Another kind of vision. The energetic track serves as the first preview of the band's upcoming six-song record, which is scheduled for release later this fall.

Blending power-pop, alternative rock, progressive rock, and psychedelic influences, “The Wednesday of my discontent” delivers sharp melodies, driving guitars, and an energetic rhythm section. The song continues to expand the band's evolving sound while maintaining the melodic style that has become a defining part of their music.

The title was inspired by a temporary lyric that referenced Shakespeare's Richard III. While writing the chorus, vocalist and rhythm guitarist David Cameron replaced the famous phrase with “Wednesday” as a joke, but the unusual image stayed. The band embraced the title because it turned an ordinary day into a symbol for everyday frustration and disappointment.

Rather than telling a direct story, the lyrics explore the feeling of chasing something that always seems just out of reach. Cameron says much of his writing develops through instinct, allowing listeners to create their own interpretations instead of following one fixed meaning.

The song was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Alex Garcia-Rivera at Mystic Valley Studio in Medford, Massachusetts. The recording captures the band's live energy while highlighting each member's contributions. Cameron's rhythm guitar and vocals work alongside Stefano Bellezza's lead guitar, including a soaring solo that adds another layer of emotion to the track. Bassist Aaron Clark delivers a powerful low end, while drummer Dave Gould drives the song forward with a steady and energetic performance.

Charming Arson celebrated the release of the single with a release show at Shaskeen Pub in Manchester, New Hampshire, sharing the stage with TELL and Falsely Accused.

Made up of David Cameron, Stefano Bellezza, Aaron Clark, and Dave Gould, Charming Arson continue to blend thoughtful songwriting with guitar-driven alternative rock. With “The Wednesday of my discontent,” the band delivers an energetic first look at its next chapter while building anticipation for the new record arriving later this year.
