Brock Geiger, a Canadian alternative pop artist, has announced his new album, Some Nights, set to release on March 18. The album will be available digitally and on limited-edition vinyl, with pre-orders now open. Alongside the announcement, Geiger has shared his latest single, “After Later,” streaming now on all major platforms.
“After Later” follows previous singles “Steps Taken” and “Lemonade.” While those tracks highlight more rhythm-heavy, energetic moments, this new release reveals a quieter, reflective side of Geiger’s artistry. The song pairs his expressive vocals with a sparse yet compelling arrangement, including saxophone flourishes from Sam Gendel that add emotional depth.
Recorded at the legendary Sound City Studios in Los Angeles, “After Later” was co-produced by Geiger and Grammy-winning producer Will Maclellan, whose credits include work with Phoebe Bridgers and Boy Genius. Geiger describes the track as a personal reflection on “the nonlinear nature of understanding ourselves.” The song captures a sense of being stuck in an uncertain future, an idea mirrored in its title.
Some Nights represents a new chapter for Geiger, who has contributed to nearly fifty albums as a collaborator over the past decade. This record places him firmly in the spotlight, blending elements of indie rock and avant-pop. Across ten tracks, the album moves from the driving guitars of “Steps Taken” to the groove-laden ambiance of the title track, showcasing a diverse sonic palette.
Geiger worked with an impressive roster of musicians on Some Nights, including Matt Chamberlain on drums, Gabe Noel on bass, and Clea Anaïs on backing vocals. These contributions enhance the album’s layered, textured sound, recorded between Sound City and Geiger’s Studio B in Calgary.
With “After Later,” Geiger crafts a haunting yet accessible piece of alt-pop that invites listeners to reflect. His ability to balance introspection with innovation makes Some Nights a promising addition to the indie music landscape. Fans of artists like Dirty Projectors and Perfume Genius will find much to appreciate in Geiger’s evocative storytelling and adventurous sound.
