Blood Makes Noise is excited to host the exclusive premiere of Borrowed Sparks new video "Marie's Dress - Live at The Smoakstack" - the third of four songs from the band's new live EP "The Smoakstack Sessions" which drops today on all streaming services. Hailing from Nashville TN, Borrowed Sparks bring a very Jersey sound, with Gaslight Anthem and Springsteen vibes, blending Americana with straight rocknroll. What truly stands out here is not only the song construction but that the song has space in it, room to breathe, giving the vocals the necessary air to fill with stories and melody, and the band room to provide flavor where the song asks for it (keep your eye on the drummer) and it's all so tasteful and never too much.
Filmed in an incredible studio with tons of guitars and a wonderful atmosphere, I can see why they decided to film in this room. A clear ambiance is provided by the surroundings that make for a really nice video. There's no b-sequence or silly camera tricks, just a rocknroll band doing what they do best, performing their music and having a great time doing it.
Great stops and starts, arpeggios, tasteful bass fills and well-placed guitar runs fill the song, with keys adding a perfect atmospheric layer to the sound, all leading to the hook in the chorus, a sweet catchy melody that will get stuck in your head for days.
A great introduction to an incredible band. Check the video and the links below and keep your eye out for more from Borrowed Sparks!
