Young Legs, the musical project of Steven Donahue, is back with a brand-new single that’s syrupy sweet indie ear candy. I Parked My Car This Way Too, a collaboration with Sunk Coast (Zach) and Kristin from The Bigness, is an upbeat, harmony-driven track that showcases the effortless chemistry between these talented musicians. With this release, Donahue continues to push his creative boundaries, blending catchy hooks with intricate production. Here, he shares a bit about the song’s creation and the collaborative spirit that brought it to life.
"I wrote this song over the summer, after a couple of Young Legs shows with Zach, Kristin, and John backing me up on stage. Zach and Kristin learned all the harmonies off of Rare Earth Dream in no time. Singing our hearts out together was such an incredibly fun experience that I had to write some more hits for all of us to belt. A couple of months later, Zach invited me over to his place to make some music, and we put together the arrangement on the fly. We found that we work really well together – organic production, few takes, no looking back! Kristin came in for an overdub session, and now we’ve got a single on our hands," says Steven Donahue of Young Legs, reflecting on his latest collaboration with Sunk Coast on the new track I Parked My Car This Way Too.
This upbeat and catchy indie pop single marks a new chapter for Donahue, who continues to evolve as both a songwriter and collaborator. The partnership with Sunk Coast (aka Zach Totta) and Kristin Bigness (The Bigness) highlights their shared musical chemistry, which shines through in the song’s natural, loose production. With layers of harmonious vocals and a carefree energy, I Parked My Car This Way Too brings a fresh, vibrant sound while staying true to the intimate, intricate songwriting that Donahue is known for.
The release follows the success of Young Legs’ Rare Earth Dream, an album praised for its lush arrangements and genre-defying scope. Critics have called it a "musical masterpiece" and a "breath of fresh air". As Donahue explores new musical landscapes with collaborators like Sunk Coast, it’s clear that he’s poised to continue his journey as one of indie’s most exciting and versatile artists.
