BMN Exclusive Premiere: Those Looks Bloom with New Single “Cherry”

Lambertville, New Jersey’s Those Looks return this winter with “Cherry,” a dreamy and emotional new single arriving December 3rd, 2025, on Mint 400 Records. Known for their shimmering blend of indie rock and velvet-wave dream pop, the four-piece continues to evolve their lush, harmony-filled sound.

The band—Kelly Bolding (vocals, guitar), Sylvia Barrantes (lead guitar), Randall Newman (bass), and Shaun Ellis (drums)—first made waves with their 2022 debut Cults Near Me. That record’s success led to a special recording session with Philadelphia producers Brian McTear and Amy Morrissey for Weathervane’s Open Sessions series. Earlier this year, the group released Passing Through, a five-song EP that deepened their reputation for heartfelt lyrics and layered production.

Now, with “Cherry,” Those Looks reunite with McTear and Morrissey at Miner Street Recordings to craft one of their most emotionally rich songs yet. The track centers around the image of a cherry tree blooming out of season—a symbol for love that arrives at the wrong time. Bolding’s voice begins the song in quiet reflection before the band builds around her with swelling harmonies and echoing guitars. As the music grows, it becomes a rush of sound that feels both lonely and hopeful, like standing in the middle of a snowstorm with spring on your mind.

“Cherry” captures the ache of missed connections and the strange beauty of almost-love. It’s a song for anyone who’s ever felt out of sync with the world, watching something beautiful appear just when you can’t reach for it. The mix of fuzzy guitar textures and melodic hooks makes it a natural fit for fans of Alvvays, Belle and Sebastian, and My Bloody Valentine.

With its glowing production and bittersweet tone, “Cherry” feels like a turning point for Those Looks—proof that even when love comes too soon or too late, there’s always another season ahead.
