Baltimore Indie Rock Powerhouse Dosser Gives Us That Grunge Nostalgia Fix We Are Craving!

Baltimore indie rock band Dosser has been making waves with their unique blend of alternative rock, pop-punk, and grunge influences. Formed in 2018, the group consists of guitarists Will Teague and Bret Lanahan, drummer Max Detrich, and bassist Eric Dudley. Their 2023 debut album, Violent Picture/Violent Sound, showcases their talent for crafting powerful, immersive rock music with a strong emphasis on dynamic instrumentation and catchy melodies.

The band’s latest release is the music video for their track "Learned to Breathe," a song that Teague describes as part of a decade-long creative process. The track combines punchy, upbeat power-pop with darker, introspective lyrics about feeling trapped by negative emotions and struggling to feel comfortable in your own skin. This mix of energetic music and emotionally charged lyrics has become a hallmark of Dosser’s style, pulling from the grunge and alt-rock sounds of the '90s.

Dosser first gained attention in Baltimore’s DIY scene, and their 2020 Brainscan EP marked their arrival as a fresh voice in alternative rock. The EP was re-released by Portland-based label Really Rad Records in 2021, and the label later released their debut full-length album. The band has since toured with post-hardcore veterans Pianos Become the Teeth, further expanding their audience with their hard-hitting live shows.

Teague has spoken about the band’s dedication to fostering a sense of community, emphasizing DIY ethics and honest songwriting. Dosser's approach contrasts with much of the current music landscape, which often prioritizes content creation over meaningful connection. The band hopes to see more artists focus on building genuine communities through their music.

Fans can catch Dosser on their current East Coast tour and if you were lucky enough you caught them in Gainsville at The Fest. Looking ahead, the band is scheduled to record a new album in 2025 with producer Jon Markson, known for his work with bands like Drug Church and Drain.
