Art d’Ecco is back with a brand new music video for his song “Tree of Life,” taken from his latest album Serene Demon, out now on Paper Bag Records. The video dropped as he kicked off his North American tour. Plus, he’s just announced a fall UK tour for October. Tickets for all shows are available at artdeccomusic.ca/tour.
“Tree of Life” brings a retro disco vibe, with a groove inspired by the Bee Gees. The lyrics explore how relationships can grow in different directions - sometimes closer together, sometimes further apart. It’s a track full of rhythm and reflection, showing off Art’s signature mix of catchy sounds and meaningful words.
Serene Demon is undoubtedly Art d’Ecco’s most daring album yet. While it ventures out into various bold new directions, fans will still hear the unique style that made them fall in love with his music in the first place. Art describes it as walking a line between challenge and charm: making music that’s quirky, catchy, and full of heart. “How do I throw out the rule book but still make something that sticks in your head?” he says. That’s the question that drives him.
To write Serene Demon, Art spent two months living in New York, walking the streets and dreaming up new sounds. He drew inspiration from film score legends like Henry Mancini and Ennio Morricone, letting the city’s iconic, cinematic energy shape the music.
At the end of the day, Art believes great pop music doesn’t need to answer every big question. It just needs to make you feel. “You don’t need to constantly defer happiness,” he says. “Just exist in the moment.”
