Anberlin Adds More Shows to Anniversary Tour with Help from The Almost and Watashi Wa

Anberlin has announced a second leg of their 20th anniversary tour for Never Take Friendship Personal. The new set of shows starts July 31 in Jacksonville, Florida, and will visit 15 more cities before ending in Indianapolis in mid-August. Most of the first leg was nearly sold out, and fans now have another chance to catch the band live.

The tour will also feature support from two other alternative bands, The Almost and Watashi Wa.

To celebrate the anniversary, Anberlin recently released Nevertake, a reimagined version of Never Take Friendship Personal. This new version features Matty Mullins, lead singer of Memphis May Fire, as the new voice of the songs. Mullins said the original album meant a lot to him growing up, and recording it with his own vocals felt like a dream come true. He shared that they tried to keep the heart of the album while bringing a new energy to it.

Mullins is now part of Anberlin’s official lineup, joining longtime members Stephen Christian, Christian McAlhaney, Joseph Milligan, Deon Rexroat, and Nathan Young. The band’s newest album, Vega, came out on August 2 through Equal Vision Records. It is their first full-length release since Mullins joined. The 12-track record shows the many sides of Anberlin’s sound, from heavy and powerful songs to softer, more thoughtful ones. Some tracks even explore industrial-style tones, giving fans something new while staying true to the band’s roots.

Anberlin has been a major part of the alternative rock scene for over 20 years. They have continued to grow while still keeping the style that made them popular. Their mix of emotional lyrics, strong guitar work, and now a fresh voice from Mullins, makes them a band worth watching.

Anberlin remains one of the most creative voices in modern alternative music. Their ability to honor the past while moving forward is impressive, and the addition of Matty Mullins has brought something new without losing what makes Anberlin special.
