Ailbhe Reddy Shares New Single and Video “That Girl,” Announces Album Kiss Big Out Today January 30

Dublin-born songwriter Ailbhe Reddy has released a new single and video titled “That Girl,” continuing the rollout for her upcoming album Kiss Big, due out January 30. The song arrives with a music video directed by Greg Purcell, which premiered via Under the Radar and is now available across streaming platforms.

“That Girl” holds a central place on Kiss Big, which Reddy describes as one of the album’s emotional anchors. The song focuses on how love changes over time, especially when care and attention begin to fade. Reddy explains that the track reflects on memory, time, and how difficult it can be to remain the same person inside a long-term relationship. The song was partly inspired by Fleishman Is in Trouble, and explores how people slowly forget the things they once admired in each other.

The new single follows earlier releases “So Quickly, Baby” and “Align,” both of which are also featured on Kiss Big. Together, the songs introduce the album’s core themes. While Kiss Big is a breakup record, it avoids simple or neat conclusions. Instead, it focuses on the confusing middle period after a relationship ends, when identity feels unstable and emotions move between sadness, hope, fear, and clarity.

Kiss Big was written across several locations, including Dublin, London, New York, and the American Midwest. The album traces the full cycle of love, loss, and renewal, showing how people often return to love even after swearing they will not. Reddy’s writing throughout the record is personal but broad in feeling, capturing moments of numbness, reflection, and slow rebuilding.

Musically, Reddy works between indie rock and confessional folk, pairing diaristic lyrics with a soft-spoken intensity. Her work has drawn comparisons to artists like Julia Jacklin, Phoebe Bridgers, Lucy Dacus, Angel Olsen, and Squirrel Flower. Past releases Personal History and Endless Affair earned strong praise and a Choice Music Prize nomination, along with attention from outlets including Pitchfork, Uncut, Clash, and Hot Press.

Alongside the single release, Reddy has announced several upcoming in-store performances in the UK and U.S., including dates at Rough Trade West in London, Freebird in Dublin, Revilla Music in Milltown, New Jersey, and Main Street Music in Philadelphia. With Kiss Big, Ailbhe Reddy continues to build a body of work centered on emotional honesty and careful self-examination.
