Cade Hoppe Confronts Denial on New Single “Flatearther,” Announces Safer at a Distance

The Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter explores the uncomfortable space between reality and wishful thinking ahead of his new album, arriving November 13.

Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter and producer Cade Hoppe has announced his forthcoming album, Safer at a Distance, arriving November 13. Alongside the announcement, Hoppe has released “Flatearther,” the album's final advance single, accompanied by an official music video.

Built around hazy, atmospheric production and emotionally charged vocals, “Flatearther” examines the ways people convince themselves to believe something even when the evidence suggests otherwise.

“Sometimes you want so badly for something to be true that you ignore the overwhelming evidence that disproves it,” Hoppe explains. “You might sail around the entire earth and still believe it's flat, simply because you want to.”

That conflict between what we want to believe and what we know to be true runs throughout Safer at a Distance, which explores Hoppe's evolving relationship with music, ambition and the uncertainty of pursuing a creative career.

The forthcoming record follows three previous projects: Tell Me How I'm Worth It (2021), Everything That's Wrong With You (2022) and Just Look At The Moon (2023).

“This whole album oscillates between acceptance and denial, while constantly assessing what is and isn't reality,” Hoppe says.

“Flatearther” follows previously released singles “Still Turn This Around,” “Lake Michigan” and “Crashland,” each offering another glimpse into the album's emotional landscape.

Hoppe's journey into music began while he was studying finance and playing college basketball at New York University. Increasingly drawn to songwriting and production, he eventually committed to music full-time during the pandemic, supporting his early releases through jobs in the service industry.

After seven years in New York City, Hoppe recently relocated to Los Angeles, where he continues developing his solo work while expanding his career as a producer for other artists.

Since debuting in 2021, his music has received attention from outlets including Notion, Ones To Watch and EARMILK.

“Flatearther” is available now on streaming platforms, while Safer at a Distance arrives November 13.
