Victoria alternative pop-rock duo Miss the Heart channel betrayal, anger and self-worth into their explosive new single “Know Me Better.”
Victoria, BC alternative pop-rock duo Miss the Heart have released “Know Me Better,” a new single that turns the experience of being manipulated and underestimated into a loud declaration of independence.
Made up of vocalist Kiarra O’Connor and drummer Michael Voytash, Miss the Heart balance polished pop hooks with the heavier force of alternative rock. “Know Me Better” pushes that contrast to the front, moving from a soaring vocal melody into crushing guitar riffs and a climactic gang-vocal refrain.
While the song can initially read as the aftermath of a romantic breakup, its inspiration stretches further. O’Connor drew from experiences with manipulative personalities across relationships, friendships, workplaces and creative collaborations. The song traces the cycle of trusting someone, recognizing how that trust has been abused and finally deciding to reclaim control.
“Know Me Better” was recorded at Echoplant Studios in Vancouver with producer, mixer and co-writer Ryan Worsley, whose previous credits include Dear Rouge, MONOWHALES and Fake Shark. Worsley also performed guitar and bass on the track, while its gang vocals brought O’Connor, Worsley, Voytash and a studio intern together around a single microphone.
The single offers another look at the sound and emotional direction of Miss the Heart’s debut EP, currently scheduled for early 2027. The project will explore different stages of conflict through the lens of feminine rage, with “Know Me Better” capturing the point where hesitation gives way to action.
Miss the Heart cite Paramore, Dear Rouge, PVRIS and The Beaches among their influences, combining alternative-rock weight with direct, hook-driven songwriting. “Know Me Better” has already received Canadian radio support, including being named The Zone @91-3’s Band of the Month for July.
For Miss the Heart, anger isn’t the destination on “Know Me Better.” It’s the fuel for finally walking away.
