Mexico City punk band Camiches bring hardcore urgency together with vulnerability and reflection on their new album, El Dolor de lo Irremediable.
Mexico City punk band Camiches have released their new album El Dolor de lo Irremediable, a 10-song collection exploring heartbreak, grief, memory, mental health and the complicated process of moving forward.
Formed in 2012, Camiches describe their sound as “Feeling Core,” their own term for a mixture of punk and hardcore intensity with nostalgia, melancholy, acoustic textures and deeply personal songwriting. That combination sits at the center of El Dolor de lo Irremediable, produced by brothers Ramsés and Sinuhé López.
The record moves freely between intimate experiences and observations about the world around the band. “Te Tengo Que Olvidar” tackles heartbreak and self-worth, while “Polvo de Nadie” approaches empathy and social responsibility through a song inspired by homelessness and Carl Sagan’s Pale Blue Dot.
The band’s surroundings also become part of the story. “08500” looks back on childhood and working-class life in Mexico City’s Agrícola Oriental neighborhood, while “El Amor No Dicho” turns toward a different form of connection with a tribute to the unconditional love of a dog.
Loss runs particularly deep throughout the album. “Las Manchas de Tu Brazo Izquierdo” confronts unresolved grief, while “El Círculo de la Tristeza” explores depression and isolation. Closing track “La Secta de los Que Extrañamos” honors the López brothers’ grandmother and considers the ways people remain present in our lives after they are gone.
Camiches have spent more than a decade building their place within Mexico’s independent punk community through a DIY approach and extensive touring across Mexico, the United States, Canada, Central America, Panama and Colombia. Their influences stretch across hardcore, punk rock, folk and melodic skate punk.
On El Dolor de lo Irremediable, those influences serve songs concerned less with toughness than with what it takes to live alongside experiences that cannot be undone.
