Wooden Overcoat have released their debut single “Home,” offering a rich and immersive introduction to the Portland-based project. The track is now available across digital platforms and serves as the lead release from the Hello Sunbeam EP, which is also out now. With this first release, the project establishes a sound that leans into atmosphere, texture, and emotional weight.
“Home” unfolds with a soft, reverb-heavy approach, layering shimmering guitars and hazy tones into a steady, flowing structure. The song draws from 60s jangle rock, indie rock, and shoegaze, blending them into a cohesive style that feels both nostalgic and modern. The production centers on depth and space, with each element adding to a wider sonic field.
At the core of Wooden Overcoat is multi-instrumentalist Brant Hajek, who wrote and recorded the project’s early material during a period of isolation. Working largely on his own, he built the songs through experimentation, shaping them around mood and instinct rather than strict structure. That approach carries into “Home,” where the arrangement feels fluid but intentional.

The Hello Sunbeam EP expands on this foundation, featuring four tracks that explore similar textures and ideas. While the recordings began as a solo effort, Hajek has since assembled a full band to bring the music into a live setting.
