Southern Virginia artist Trxy! has released his debut full-length album Drowning In Bliss, now available everywhere via UnitedMasters. The 14-track project marks the first major statement from the rising musician, blending the atmospheric textures of shoegaze with the heavy emotional weight and distortion of nu-metal.
Across the album, Trxy! — the project of 19-year-old Trey Odell — moves through a spectrum of emotional intensity, balancing moments of dreamy ambience with bursts of cathartic heaviness. Songs like “Cut Out My Heart” deliver crushing emotional force, while the focus track “Rot” drifts through a hazy atmosphere that captures the uneasy space between reflection and emotional collapse. Elsewhere, tracks such as “Shallow” highlight the album’s constant push and pull between softness and distortion.
The record was written during a period marked by profound personal grief following the loss of Odell’s mother. That experience shapes the emotional backbone of Drowning In Bliss, which unfolds as a deeply personal exploration of pain, vulnerability, and the complicated ways joy and sorrow can coexist. Rather than separating those feelings, the album leans into the tension between them, presenting each track as another chapter in a broader narrative about confronting and processing overwhelming emotions.
Despite its expansive sound, the album was created through a stripped-down DIY process. Odell wrote and produced the music on his phone using the BandLab app, demonstrating a creative approach that relies on instinct and immediacy rather than traditional studio methods. The result is a record that feels raw and intimate while still delivering massive sonic impact.
That authenticity has helped Trxy! quickly build a growing audience. The artist now draws more than 451,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, propelled in part by the viral success of the single “Realize.” The track has surpassed 66 million global streams and climbed into the Top 25 of Billboard’s Hot Hard Rock Songs chart after gaining traction on TikTok.
Before the album’s release, Trxy! introduced listeners to his sound with the Eternal EP, laying the groundwork for the larger emotional scope of Drowning In Bliss. With this debut full-length now out in the world, the young artist continues to position himself as a distinctive new voice at the intersection of heavy music and shoegaze atmosphere.
