Brooklyn's alt-rock duo Sub*T has unleashed their latest EP, Spring Skin, today via If This Then Records. This new collection, marked by its effervescent energy and introspective depth, is a testament to the band's evolution and their knack for crafting infectious, heartfelt rock.
Leading the charge is the single "Shed," a high-octane anthem with a video. The track embodies the essence of SubT's sound—fun, fast, and loud. As the band puts it, “This is anthemic sht for us. It's classic Sub*T: bubbly, fast, and loud. It’s about being let down but celebrating the end of a bad situation with gleeful screams. It came together effortlessly and always felt like a standout track.”
A blend of introspection and intensity, featuring evocative melodies and thought-provoking lyrics. Grace Bennett and Jade Alcantara, the driving forces behind Sub*T, explain, “Something about this song just feels special. It's introspective but still hits hard. To celebrate the release of Spring Skin, Sub*T is performed an EP release show at Trans Pecos in Brooklyn on June 21st. The band is also hit tour dates in Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., expanding their reach and connecting with fans across the East Coast.
Formed in 2019, Sub*T is fronted by Grace Bennett and Jade Alcantara, two self-taught musicians who draw inspiration from the female-driven rock of the '90s. Their sound is a nostalgic yet fresh blend of fuzz and melody, reminiscent of Veruca Salt, Garbage, and Hole. After collaborating with Bully's Alicia Bognanno on their debut EP, So Green, they returned to the studio with producer Aron Kobayashi Ritch to craft Spring Skin at Studio G in Brooklyn.
Reflecting on their growth, Bennett and Alcantara share, "We are in bloom, and our Spring Skin EP is a testament to that. It explores themes of lust, desire, loneliness, and personal evolution. We're excited to share these songs and continue our journey."
