BMN PRESENTS: INDIE SPOTLIGHT BY OLIVIA KING

Hi my name is Olivia! I’m an avid indie music listener and I’m always searching for something new and different. I’ve gathered some of my current listens that have been on repeat and formulated my own personal playlist.

Stolen Jars : indie duo

Indie Duo “Stolen Jars,” with Cody Fitzgerald and Sarah Coffey merge their wispy vocals and banjo strums to create a quirky folk sound. Organic, yet unconventional, Stolen Jars is likely to keep you on your feet.

Goodfight: band

Brooklyn Band “Goodfight” is highly reminiscent of “Men I Trust” with their own twist. Their new album with eleven tracks can be considered sanguine paradise with their use of upbeat tunes, ethereal vocals, and lively acoustics.

Work Wife: Solo female artist

Brooklyn based artist and songwriter “Work Wife,” pushes the boundaries of indie music: Her atmospheric melodies, ambient sound, along with her airy voice emerge into powerful guitar strings and passionate vocals. “Work Wife,” is no doubt a pleasant surprise to the indie ear.

Abby Sage: Solo female artist

Toronto spirit Abby Sage’s eerie electric guitar meshes with her lulling vocals that are almost ghostly, especially in her latest release “Pool Party,” that can be found in her newest 2022 EP. A sound that is sinister yet captivating; Sage’s music is horrifyingly enchanting.

KALI: solo female artist

Solo artist KALI from Cleveland Ohio takes a funky spin on indie music: Her disco-esque sound combined with alluring ballads perfectly intertwines with her use of techno drones. Her sound is unique and every song takes unexpected turns, so she is definitely worth a listen.
