PARTS PER MILLION: ME AND YOUR MAMA

A Childish Gambino cover is a bold choice for any band mostly because it breaks one of the golden rules of picking a cover song which is it’s gotta be 20 years old or older. However, this track has such a 60’s Motown vibe that people not familiar with Childish Gambino will just think it’s a great throwback track. I have to say, the cover is good but it does not quite have the passion or soul of the original although the performance by the band is flawless. If you don’t know the original though I doubt you will be feeling that, it does have as much soul as a guy who looks like Scott Stapp can muster. I’d rather see a band this talented showing off their original stuff but maybe that’s just me. It’s impressive to see it pulled off in the video with what seems to be a live in the studio setting.
