The Struts frontman Luke Spiller has released his new solo single “When I Die Will I Miss Living,” an introspective track that recently appeared in an episode of NBC’s Chicago Med.
Luke Spiller, best known as the lead vocalist of British rock band The Struts, has released his latest solo single, “When I Die Will I Miss Living,” available now on all major streaming platforms.
The song made its television debut during a recent episode of NBC's Chicago Med, introducing audiences to a more intimate side of the singer's evolving solo work.
Written while visiting his parents in Devon during the winter of last year, “When I Die Will I Miss Living” began as a poem inspired by the work of acclaimed writer Billy Collins. Spiller started with lyrics before developing the melody, a process that differs from his usual approach to songwriting.
After performing the song during his solo tour, Spiller was approached by members of the Chicago Med production team, who expressed interest in featuring the track in the series. He later recorded the song with collaborators Jon Levine and Nick Perri, both of whom contributed to his upcoming debut solo album.
The single offers a glimpse into Love Will Probably Kill Me Before Cigarettes and Wine, Spiller's forthcoming solo record. Described as a cinematic and deeply personal collection, the album explores themes of love, heartbreak, and self-discovery through a style that draws inspiration from classic film scores and grand, theatrical songwriting.
For more than a decade, Spiller has been known for his work with The Struts, whose energetic blend of glam rock and arena-ready anthems earned the band international recognition. Since releasing their debut album, Everybody Wants, in 2015, The Struts have toured alongside acts including The Rolling Stones, Foo Fighters, Guns N' Roses, and Mötley Crüe.
With “When I Die Will I Miss Living,” Spiller steps further outside the sound that made him famous, embracing a quieter and more reflective direction while maintaining the emotional intensity that has defined his career.
The single is available now on all streaming platforms.
