Fragile Animals Return With A Renewed Shoegaze / Dream Pop Sound

Fragile Animals shared their new EP Tourist this year, bringing more of their deep dream pop and shoegaze sound to fans. The band had already made waves with two EPs, Light That Fades and Only Shallow // Only More, plus their 2023 album Slow Motion Burial, which got fans attention on streaming services.

The new Tourist EP had six songs that showed how the band grew. Each track felt dark, soft, and powerful. Victoria Jenkins’ voice carried feelings of distance and connection as she sang about how people see each other like visitors passing through. She said she liked the idea that people are like tourists in each other’s lives, only seeing parts of the truth.

The EP opened with “People I’ll Never Know.” The guitars and echo made the song feel lonely and far away. The title track, “Tourist,” showed the band’s shoegaze style best. It had soft verses, catchy hooks, and a mix of pop and noise. Victoria said the song was about feeling changed by words from people she did not know.

One of the biggest songs on the EP was “Sending Flares.” The band recorded Victoria’s voice for this song late at night in a quiet radio station room. Her words were raw and honest. A deep guitar sound added more weight to the song’s sad mood.

Other songs like “Into It” and “Worldview” had wide, echoing guitars and soft but strong drum beats. The band wrote about dark things but also left space for hope. The last song, “Allergic,” ended the EP with fast drums, strong bass, and swirling guitars. It was about caring for people even when it hurts.

Fragile Animals showed with Tourist that they still push their sound deeper. They made music that felt big, sad, and beautiful all at once.
