The Starting Line Are Back With New Single "Sense of Humor", First Album In 18 Years

Pop-punk veterans The Starting Line are officially back. The band has announced Eternal Youth, their first full-length album since 2007. It comes out September 26 and will be the first release on their brand new label, Lineage Recordings.

The first single, “Sense of Humor,” is available now. The track sounds punchy and emotional, with catchy guitar riffs and a strong vocal performance from singer Ken Vasoli. Even after all these years, the band’s energy and chemistry are clear.

The Starting Line has kept the same lineup since forming in 1999. That includes Vasoli, Matt Watts (guitar), Mike Golla (guitar), Tom Gryskewicz (drums), and Brian Schmutz (keys/vocals). Vasoli says their close bond and trust have kept them going: “We couldn’t have survived a life in the music industry without a proper sense of humor,” he says. “This song reminds us of the strange things we’ve faced and brings us back to the original reasons we started playing together.”

The band says this new album reflects the core of what they’ve always loved about music. Instead of chasing trends, they focused on making something that feels simple and honest. “We’re continuously improving, which is exciting,” Vasoli adds. “It feels like we make a great team.”

The announcement follows a wave of activity from the band. They recently played a string of big shows, including When We Were Young Festival, Slam Dunk, and Let’s Go Fest. They also held their annual holiday hometown concert, Reconnect, which sold out. Now, The Starting Line are heading out on the Eternal Youth Tour, their first full nationwide tour in a long time. Many shows are already selling out.

The new album marks an important chapter for The Starting Line. After nearly two decades away from the studio, Eternal Youth shows that their sound and their message still matter. Listen to “Sense of Humor” below:
