The video was made with directors Biff Swenson and Dana Yurcisin (both of Yawn Mower, Grasser, Dana Why & More), who first heard the song while listening to the band’s upcoming album People Pleasers Pleasing People. The song clicked with them instantly, and the band trusted the duo to create something special—and it paid off.
Filmed in Asbury Park, New Jersey, the video features two actors, Maxx and Leann, and marks the first time the band included people outside their group in a video. The result is both mysterious and emotional. The visuals take inspiration from the cult show Twin Peaks, giving the video a dreamy and slightly eerie feeling that matches the lyrics.
“Hate Me Less” is one of three new songs the band has released this year, along with “Influencer” and “Without a Head.” This track, in particular, feels personal and raw.
