Laura Jane Grace has announced her new album Adventure Club, which will come out on July 18 through Polyvinyl Record Co. The album was made with her new band, The Trauma Tropes, and includes 12 bold punk songs about love, war, betrayal, trust, and even iced coffee. Grace recorded the album in Athens, Greece, during a one-month residency supported by the Onassis Foundation. The trip changed her life and inspired the entire record.
Grace didn’t make the album alone. She was joined by her wife, Paris Campbell Grace, who sings on the album. She also worked with Greek musicians Jacopo “Jack” Fokas on bass and Orestis Lagadinos on drums. Together, they brought raw, emotional energy to each track.
The first single, “Mine Me Mine,” is already out. The song is loud, direct, and criticizes greed and the harm caused by capitalism. The sound is a mix of classic punk and powerful rhythms, and the lyrics are angry and honest.
Before it was an album name, “Adventure Club” was a nickname for the group of friends Grace made during her stay in Greece. They swam in the Aegean Sea, explored old ruins, and drank Freddo espresso, a popular local drink. These experiences helped Grace find new inspiration and feel more free as a songwriter.
A few years ago, the Onassis Foundation invited Grace to turn a Greek poem into a punk song. That led her to perform with local punk musicians in Greece. After a short tour and delayed flight, the group stayed up all night recording a version of “Walls,” a poem about feeling stuck. That moment sparked a creative wave that eventually led to Adventure Club.
This album is about changing, growing, and staying true to punk. Grace asks hard questions in her songs but also has fun doing it. She proves that punk isn’t just about being loud — it’s about being real.
Laura Jane Grace is a smart and fearless artist. Her music pushes punk in exciting directions, and Adventure Club sounds like it will be one of her most meaningful albums yet.
