Vancouver’s own SLIPons are ready to drop their latest single, "Graystone," dropped in October. This power-pop band, known for their energetic guitar-driven sound, brings together music legends and creates a vibrant tribute to 90s rock. The single will be released through Scamindy Records, along with a creative music video.
Recorded at Afterlife Studios in Vancouver, "Graystone" features the production talents of Brian Minato and the band, with mixing by Dave Ogilivie. The track showcases the powerful vocals of Brock Pytel, known for his work with The Doughboys, alongside Brian Minato, Rob "Shockk" Matharu, and Shane Wilson. The combination of punchy guitars and rolling bass lines gives the song a dynamic feel, reminiscent of iconic bands like Hüsker Dü and Soul Asylum.
SLIPons have been making waves since their formation in 2012. Their previous album, Heavy Machinery, received significant airplay on College Radio across North America, gaining support from stations like KXLU in Los Angeles and WXAV in Chicago. The band’s growing reputation solidifies their place in the power-pop and alt-rock scene.
"Graystone" reflects on Pytel’s memories of a venue in Detroit where he played back in the late 80s. The song captures the spirit of adventure and nostalgia, with clever lyrics that tell a story. Pytel worked with his old bandmates to gather memories, which influenced the song's writing.
To celebrate the single's release, SLIPons will host a special party at Green Auto Music in Vancouver on November 15 (Today) . The accompanying video, produced by Scott Gordon, takes an imaginative approach, featuring creative animations that reflect the band’s connection to the 80s Detroit punk scene.
