Italian rock 'n' roll band The Peawees are back with their seventh studio album, One Ride, coming out on September 6th, 2024. This new album, released by Wild Honey Records, with special editions from Folc Records in Spain and Spaghetty Town Records in North America, follows their 2018 album Moving Target. It has been a long wait, marked by challenges like lineup changes, personal struggles, and the pandemic, but One Ride showcases the band’s growth and resilience.
The Peawees' sound on One Ride mixes rock 'n' roll swagger with garage punk energy, giving a fresh take on classic influences. The creation of One Ride was an unusual journey. Drummer Tommy Gonzalez and lead singer/songwriter Hervé Peroncini started working on the album in 2019, hoping to have it ready by 2022. However, the pandemic disrupted their plans, leaving Peroncini stuck on an island with limited resources. Despite these challenges, he used his time to write and record a significant portion of the album. The isolation turned out to be a creative advantage, allowing him to channel his experiences into the music.
The album features stories of outsiders and dreamlike lyrics, reflecting the band’s experiences during the pandemic. Even with the difficulties, The Peawees stayed focused on their music, overcoming obstacles and adapting to changes in their lineup.
