London-based band Qlowski has announced the release of their upcoming LP, The Wound, set to drop on Feel It Records in North America and Maple Death Records in Europe. Alongside this announcement, the band also released a video for their first single, "Surrender," which captures the energy and emotion that defines their sound.
Qlowski, known for their blend of dream-punk, propulsive rhythms, and dark punk influences, has evolved into a collective. The group now includes Mickey Tellarini and Cecilia Corapi, along with new members Christian Billard, Lucy Ludlow, and James Luxton. Their second album builds on the groundwork laid in their debut, Quale Futuro?, and expands their sonic palette with kosmische soundscapes, art-pop ballads, and industrial beats. The result is a bold mix of contrasts that feels euphoric, dark, and full of energy.
Recorded at Sonic Studios in Dublin by producer Daniel Fox, The Wound explores the tension between heavy and soft sounds, weaving together analog synths, drum machines, and field recordings. The album is described as a punk record for the club culture, where the music unites people in a shared, powerful experience. Tracks like "Desire" fuse anarcho-punk elements with electronic euphoria, while "Surrender" has a brooding, reverb-heavy sound that brings to mind The Cure’s darker moments.
Songs like "It May Change" and "Mastering the Motions" bounce with angular funk rhythms, while "Praxis" and "Stronger Than" showcase Qlowski's ability to deliver dream-pop ballads, highlighted by Cecilia's ethereal vocals and analog synth arrangements.
The lyrics in The Wound reflect the political and social struggles of recent years, written amidst protests and marches in London. Qlowski’s music channels a sense of urgency and determination to fight for justice, a theme that permeates the entire album.
