Breymer Drops Powerful Single "Better Friend" Ahead of New Album Release

LA-based singer-songwriter Breymer, also known as Sarah Walk (she/they), has just released a new single titled "Better Friend." Built around a pulsing guitar riff and a fuzzy, powerful chorus, the song offers an introspective take on friendship. This track is part of their upcoming album When I Get Through, set to be released on October 18 through One Little Independent Records. The album focuses on Walk’s journey with gender identity, providing an honest reflection of self-discovery and personal growth.

"Better Friend" delves into the complexities of relationships, particularly how Walk’s experience with top surgery reshaped their approach to friendships. The song captures the balance between doing what is necessary for personal well-being while also striving to be a better friend to those around them. With raw lyrics and emotional intensity, the track showcases Breymer’s ability to convey deep emotions through both words and music.

When I Get Through was produced by GRAMMY-nominated producer Tyler Chester, known for his work with artists like Madison Cunningham and Margaret Glaspy. The album features a collection of songs that explore identity, personal struggles, and the strength that comes from facing life’s challenges head-on. The previously released singles include "Medication," which critiques prescription pill culture, and "Darkness," a tender tribute to Walk’s wife.

Breymer’s music is known for its rich instrumentation and layered vocal harmonies. Last year’s single "My Body" was praised as a raw and liberating anthem, further establishing Breymer as an artist unafraid to tackle difficult subjects.

Alongside the release of When I Get Through, Breymer will be performing at album release shows in New York City, Los Angeles, and their hometown of Minneapolis, as well as opening for Petite Amie on a series of tour dates. Breymer’s music is deeply moving, blending raw emotion with layered, intricate instrumentation that invites listeners into a journey of self-discovery.
