Naked Giants Announce New Album 'Shine Away' and Share New Single 'Apartment 3'

Seattle trio Naked Giants is gearing up to release their new album, "Shine Away," on October 4th through Devil Duck Records. Fans can look forward to a mix of garage rock, punk, and new wave funk on this highly anticipated third album. To give a taste of what's coming, the band has dropped the lead single, "Apartment 3," along with a music video directed by Heather Garcia. This track is now streaming on all major platforms.

"Apartment 3" captures the band's growth since their last album, "The Shadow," released in 2020. Vocalist and guitarist Grant Mullen explains, "This song is about the early-20s experience of finding a new home and dealing with first-time living arrangements, especially during quarantine." The song and its themes reflect the band's journey from their start in 2014.

Naked Giants, formed by Grant Mullen, bassist Gianni Aiello, and drummer Henry LaVallee, began with a youthful energy that has evolved over time. Now in their late twenties, the trio brings a more mature perspective to their music. "Shine Away" is described as a reflection on their personal growth and the changes in their lives and the world. It's an album that shows a band coming into their own, both musically and personally.

The band's first album was filled with the raw energy of being 18-year-olds with big dreams. But life has changed since then. "We all got day jobs or went back to school, and really grew into ourselves individually," says Mullen. "Now, we have more to say, and I think we’ve made a record with more meaning and purpose."

Produced by Dylan Wall at Seven Hills Studio in Seattle, "Shine Away" keeps the band's energetic style while adding depth and intentionality. Aiello adds, "We’re carrying the typical garage-rock ethos with us to this new phase of life. There’s room in the music for both the young, raucous kids we used to be and the fully emotional people we’re becoming."

From the punchy opener "Apartment 3" to the catchy title track, "Shine Away" showcases the band's strong musical chemistry and their shift towards more meaningful music. The album takes listeners on a journey of self-discovery, blending indie rock influences with the unique sound of Naked Giants.

Listening to Naked Giants is like getting a jolt of pure energy. Their music is a vibrant mix of garage rock, punk, and funky new wave that feels both familiar and fresh. The powerful guitar riffs, dynamic drumming, and catchy bass lines create a sound that’s full of life and excitement. It’s the kind of music that makes you want to move, whether you're jumping around in a mosh pit or dancing in your room.

The band’s songs often have a raw, unfiltered quality that’s both authentic and relatable. There's an infectious enthusiasm in their music that reflects their youthful spirit, but there’s also a sense of maturity in their lyrics and themes. Songs like “Apartment 3” capture the struggles and triumphs of growing up, giving their music an emotional depth that resonates.

Overall, Naked Giants' music is exhilarating and invigorating. It’s a reminder of the power of rock and roll to connect, uplift, and inspire.
