SPEED Unleash Explosive New Single 'REAL LIFE LOVE' Ahead of Debut Album

SPEED’s new single, “REAL LIFE LOVE,” heralds the arrival of their debut full-length, ONLY ONE MODE, set to drop July 12th via Flatspot Records and Last Ride Records. Hailing from Sydney, Australia, SPEED have become a powerhouse name in the hardcore scene, recognized for their electrifying performances and raw, authentic sound. Their self-coined mantra, “ONLY ONE MODE,” fittingly titles this much-anticipated album, a testament to their relentless energy and growth within the genre.

“REAL LIFE LOVE” opens the album with a visceral punch, encapsulating the band's journey and ethos. This track is a tribute to the loyalty and authenticity inherent in hardcore, showcasing the intense relationships and unwavering bonds formed within the scene. With thunderous vocals, aggressive grooves, and crushing breakdowns, “REAL LIFE LOVE” exemplifies everything that defines SPEED. The accompanying video, produced by the band along with Jack Rudder and Thomas Elliot, serves as an homage to the vibrant Sydney hardcore community.

Vocalist Jem Siow reflects on the song’s deeper meaning, stating, “My time in hardcore has informed the relationships I have with everyone I hold close. An unconditional sense of love and loyalty. A bond that knows no words. Relationships that now span a lifetime. To us, this unique sense of deep-seated understanding is the essence of HC, it's what we're most passionate about and grateful for.”

Formed in 2019, SPEED is composed of brothers Jem (vocals) and Aaron Siow (bass), guitarists Josh Clayton and Dennis Vichidvongsa, and drummer Kane Vardon. From the outset, the band has operated on their own terms, collaborating consistently with producer Elliott Gallart and videographer Jack Rudder. Their 2021 single “We See U” amassed over a million streams, a milestone for a Sydney hardcore band, and 2022’s Gang Called Speed EP cemented their reputation, earning accolades from Rolling Stone Australia, NME, Kerrang!, and more.

Currently, SPEED is embarking on a six-week North American tour with Knocked Loose, Show Me The Body, and Loathe, while also gearing up for performances at major festivals like Download, Hellfest, and Flatspot World. This period marks a significant chapter in their journey, underscoring their dedication to the hardcore scene and the relationships that fuel their passion.

ONLY ONE MODE is available for preorder now through Flatspot Records, promising an unrelenting, heartfelt tribute to the hardcore community that has shaped SPEED’s path. https://flatspotrecords.com/collections/speed
