WHAT'S BEEN IN OUR INBOX! NIGHTMARATHONS, TANCRED, THE DAHMERS, FEEP, SORAIA

Our inbox is over flowing again so we are letting you good people know exactly what is new and available out there in the music world. Today we jump around a little bit style wise. We have lots of remnants from Halloween that we couldn't squeeze in until now and some stuff we knew we wanted to cover but were unable to until now. Also, we have a handful of new writers helping us out and hopefully you agree with their musical tastes! If you want to see your band on one of these lists, send us streaming music and as short bio.

Band: Nightmarathons

BloodMakesNoise Rating: 8.1/10

What they say they sound like: Nightmarathons melds varying punk, post punk, and first-wave emo influences to create their own unique take on melodic punk rock music.

What we think they sound like: Nightmarathons bring a familiar punk-edged rock sound, but beneath the surface deliver tender, vulnerable lyrics and fun hooks. The new record comes in fast-paced bursts of energy, complete with the band’s trademark shouted vocals and ripping guitars. It’s a cathartic blast sure to get even the most angsty punk and emo lovers dancing like fools.

Band: Tancred

BloodMakesNoise Rating: 9.4/10

What they say they sound like: (Jess) Abbott’s continued growth as a songwriter on the new track “Mirepoix'' which features Jenny Owen Youngs and was produced by John Mark Nelson (Taylor Swift, Mitski, Devon Cole) "Mirepoix is about how important people are to each other,” shares Abbott, “especially with how short our time here is, and how we’re all kind of made up of the same stuff, the same little pieces all mixed together.”

What we think they sound like: Tancred’s Jess Abbott has accomplished something truly special on “Mirepoix”. It’s a fantastic, soft folk gem, perfect for rainy days spent in bed. Her and guest Jenny Owen Youngs’ harmonies recall The Everly Brothers. The overall arrangement and wonderfully constructed melodies are reminiscent of 60s folk, but with an experimental twist that makes it sonically unique.

Band: The Dahmers

BloodMakesNoise Rating: 7.8/10

What they say they sound like: The Dahmers, are a Swedish rock 'n' roll horror sensation that's creeping up on you. With a tornado of influences like garage punk, classic rock and 60's pop this band truly is a Frankenstein's monster of music. This is a band who's going their own way with colorful contrasts and still keeping the main essence of what they are all about. With their catchy tunes that get stuck to your brain like a leech, The Dahmers sucks you into their music and to a world filled with darkness. Their lyrics and aesthetics have a big inspiration from classic horror movies but you also find emotional exposures about frustration, solitude and alienation amongst other things in their songs. They are skeletons with attitude and put as much effort into the visual experience as in their music.

What we think they sound like: “On Halloween” is a spooky, fun goth-rock jam, comparable to Ghost with a bit of campy horror-movie soundtrack vibes mixed in. The band sound like they’re having a great time against the backdrop of swirling synth-organ lines and spiky power chords. It would make a great addition to any Halloween Party playlist.

Band: FEEP

BloodMakesNoise Rating: 8.4/10

What they say they sound like: The mysterious Boston quartet take us on an existential psych-pop trip with new single "Waiting." With a swirling tension and calm urgency, "Waiting" reflects off its own house of mirrors; an organ-led and retro-fed cruiser that glides down kinetic avenues of indie, garage rock, and post-punk while displaying the FEEP's knack for a casual thrust of sound.

What we think they sound like: On their new single “Waiting”, FEEP gifts us with a great psychedelic pop track. It’s a bit of a throwback, with the opening guitar- and keyboard-led groove recalling The Kinks or The Animals, later shifting into a howling rock’n’roll shredder by the end of the song. What makes it special is its spooky, reverb-y, garage-pop edge that makes it perfect for Halloween season. Boo!

Band: Soraia

BloodMakesNoise Rating: 7.9/10

What they say they sound like: “Ultimately, our new album is about rising above all of the slights, injuries, and traumas we’ve all experienced - personally and together - and positioning ourselves into a new place we’ve chosen. A place with renewed courage and vitality. We realize we are all deserving of a life driven by our choices and power,” says ZouZou Mansour, lead singer and lyricist for Soraia.

What we think they sound like: Soraia’s new album is a retro delight, sure to resonate with fans of Joan Jett or the Donnas, complete with face-melting riffs and anthemic hard-rock choruses that might even get your mom and dad chanting along. They’re already gaining ground on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock chart; be sure to keep your ears open for these future rock stars.
