“WITNESS” TIM KILE, EX-ARCADE FIRE’S NEW SINGLE OUT NOW

"Witness," is the brand-new single from Austin-based musician Tim Kile, a co-founding member of Arcade Fire and New Hampshire's Wild Light. The new single is from his forthcoming album due out this Spring. Here’s what Tim had to say about the song:

“‘Witness’ is about seeing something fucked up and being fucked up by it. Losing innocence, being corrupted, however you wanna put it. It's about being initiated into the general human scandal, the lie we agree upon in order to function socially. When we’re young, we’re blameless. Then it's something seen, not something done, that changes who you are. It happens to all of us, in one way or another. It's how we ‘grow up’.”

I listen to a lot of music and was never big into Arcade Fire, so I only know a couple songs by them. But upon first list this track gives me Seawolf and Feist vibes. I think it’s more that Tim comes from that class and era of songwriting. Trained in classical piano, the instrumentation is top notch. This song feels like 2009 Indie Rock and in my book that is a good thing. That was a great time in the indie rock world. So although I wasn’t a big Arcade Fire fan I could see myself enjoying and listening to this. If this is an indicator as to the vibe and sound of the rest of the record then I could see myself becoming a fan. Highly recommended.
