SILVER OWLS: SERPENTINE (Single Review)

Silver Owls offer up the single “Serpentine” from their forthcoming “Serpentine EP” and it hits me right away as something recorded purposely lo-fi that kind of gives it this analog 90’s feel. The song comes off as indie rock but could of just as easily been something from some classic album like a Love & Rockets b-side or something like that. What’s kind of weird is it really does not sound like modern music and part of that could be that it’s from Ireland and I couldn’t tell you one bit what their scene is like currently. I do love the driving bass that almost has a Fugazi like tone, it really keeps the track moving nicely. I’d be interested to hear what more from Silver Owls sounds like and I guess that’s the best that any band can do is leave you wanting more.
